Just in case you were out exploring, wrenching in the garage, or working late this week… here are some of the things that came up on our radar during week fifteen of 2018.
XOverland’s New Series – Overlander
Just when you thought the team over at Expedition Overland would take a bit of a break between epic adventures… they go and release a new series on YouTube. “Overlander” is a new endeavor for the Toyota-loving, Maxtrax schlepping, Magpul wearing crew from Big Sky Country.
Overlander will showcase short trips closer to home. Much like the adventures 99 percent of us partake in on weekends… between household chores, punching time clocks, and jealously watching YouTube and Instagram accounts.
In the Overlander premier the guys from Expedition Overland don’t stray from from home / thier HQ hangar. But, they do enjoy some awesome Montana snow in an unexpected adventure rig. If you haven’t already subscribed to their YouTube channel… you should ASAP. And, if you haven’t seen the premier of “Overlander” here it is…
Rhino Rack’s New Awnings
We noticed a lot of Rhino Rack coverage on Instagram this week. And, with good reason. They just announced a new and improved awning line. But, the biggest news in that the Batwing awning is much, much easier to set up than the good ‘ol Foxwing. Here’s a quick video of the new Batwing in Action…
Also included in the upgrade is a new heavy duty material that offers increased sun protection (UPF 50) in both Sunseeker and Foxwing Configuration. The new and improved awnings also offer up black extrusions (instead of silver), a black PVC case, and backward compatibility with prior generation awnings. There are other improvements, but you’ll have to head over to Rhino Rack’s site to learn more. We’d love to get our hands on the new Batwing, but for now well have to rely on our trusty Sunseeker.
Andrew St. Pierre White Continues his Trans-Australia Trip Prep
This week Andrew released episodes two and three of his latest series detailing preparations for an upcoming trip across Australia. We’re following this one pretty close since we’re getting ready to plan our much smaller Australia trip (in 2020).
If you haven’t started watching this series you should… it’s packed with great insights on more granular pre-trip details. And, who wouldn’t want to follow Andrew on a trip through an Australian version of Home Depot.
If you want to catch up on the series go ahead and click on the image above… it will take you to the 4XOverland Youtube channel. But, if you have a little spending money left over from the past week… head over to Andrew’s Patreon page and say thanks for years of hard work. You can help support future videos for as little as $3 bucks. Or for a cool thousand… you can go along with him on an adventure in Australia. Seriously, that’s listed on his page.
We might actually take him up on that offer if it still stands in 2020… we already have a 200 Series lined up. Why not hire one of the world’s top overland experts to show you around the Outback.
